Historical interlude: Menu for a Poet Laureate

The menu served for the final birthday celebration of Robert Frost, Poet Laureate in Washington, March 26, 1962.

I think often of my most favorite of his poems, The Gift, "Something we were withholding made us weak. Until we found out that it was ourselves"...

And it makes me wonder: Why was it always Turtle Soup?

You know, you really have the most unique of posts. I love them! I have never had Turtle Soup. My husband has it every time he goes to new Orleans (business) at Delmonico's. I'd say my husband might most likely choose it as well!
