Gherkins and Tomatoes: This post is totally not about gherkins or tomatoes

I am pleased to introduce you to a blog which I discovered only this past week when I was researching the menus and flowers for the Inaugural Luncheon and Ball (s). Gherkins and Tomatoes is a foods history and culture blog is a remarkably satisfying place to linger, loiter, and dig around. Full of details on inaugurals past and all the china, it is a place where one who is interested in the hosting of these landmark events could immerse oneself for days.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.... so far, The Eisenhower china is my favorite, and I am awed by the sheer amounts of food and varieties employed to service even the earliest of Inaugural Luncheons.
