Thing of beauty: Edible landscaping at Home Farm

These are the borders and street facade of the Home Farm store here in Middleburg, Virginia. I can only say about this enterprise that absolutely everything they do as part of the greater whole of Ayrshire Farm, is authentic and true to their mission statement. If ever you wondered if edible, sustainable, organic landscaping was possible, I encourage you to look over these photos carefully.

What might look like landscaping greenery is actually the the late summer lives of strawberry, varying herbs, beans, and squash. You might walk past the window boxes on the street and not take note of their sustainability but they are proof this method of landscaping is as successful and aesthetically pleasing as any other.

As I mentioned earlier this week, this book is as good a place as any to begin planning...
