Entre nous: A First Birthday lunch

My second baby girl has turned one. It seems like yesterday I was writing about an interminable pregnancy, and then finally advising you she had arrived.

We had a little luncheon for her at her Grandmother's this past weekend, thought you might like a peek.

First Birthday Menu

Rocket Salad
Curried Chicken Salad with Grapes and Almonds over Spinach
Assorted Breads
Cucumber Tzaitiki Mayonnaise
Assorted Savory Tarts and Quiches
Cold Roasted Asparagus in Balsamic Glaze
Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday, my sweet snuggly little babe.

I just adore the picture you have of her from behind. And the cake is so divine - love the colours. First birthdays are always so very special.

Happy Birthday to your little one! Such a wonderful age, all the accomplishments and changes you will see in her this year. A little sad when you realize they are not quite "babies" anymore-maybe time to try for number 3, Blushing!:)

I will never forget what I served at my little ones' first birthday celebrations. So many details of life slip through the fingers but these seem infinitely too important to be let go.

Good birthday menus are their own reward, of course, but of particular pleasure when the child grows up to all of five years old and requests - on a day when virtually anything is allowed - salmon, asparagus vinaigrette and a warm couscous salad. Makes me misty just remembering...

What a divine party, cake, dress, and sophisticated menu. Can I have this for my 34th birthday this summer or is it only baby-appropriate? ;-)
